Workshop – Camera, lens and sensor cleaning, firmware upgrade, macro photography and focus stacking 13/11/2018

The evening began with Wing demonstrating camera sensor cleaning using swab and Eclipse Fluid. Other members also contributed to this by telling us what methods they had used successfully. Members also shared their experiences in keeping the camera equipment dry and clean, and how they clean off any dust and dirt off the lens.

Dave L explained his approach to photograph insects. Photograph the insect side on would be one of the best views. Also, how he slowed down the insects speedy movements. That will have to be kept secret for now.

Wing demonstrated focus stacking with images taken from the previous workshop. Once the images were loaded onto the computer, it’s up to the software to do all the work by aligning the images and stacking them to show only the parts in focus.

We then moved onto the subject of updating camera firmware. From downloading the firmware from the camera manufacturer’s website to uploading it to the camera.

Dave E also answered some Photoshop queries.
