Water splashing on a light bulb
Sue Emery had asked if we could recreate a shot of water being splashed on a light bulb. The shoot was organised quickly for the August meeting. Keith Harris provided the flash lighting equipment while Sue Emery provided the paddling pool and light bulb, etc. On the night, all members chipped in to set up for the shoot. Trevor inflated the paddling pool. Sue Mannings poured the steady stream of water onto the light bulb while members photographed the effect. It was good team work.

Using flashgun as fill-in or main light indoor demonstration
Ray Shum held a demonstration on the use of flashgun as fill-in and as main light while taking photographs at indoor events.
The demonstration included balancing flash with ambient light. One shot he lit the audience with bounced flash as main light, using shorter shutter speed so the ambient light did not affect the shot. Then he used a longer shutter speed to include the ambient light in this shot, making the ambient light the main light, and bounced flash as fill-in.
Ray also tried out long shutter speed, creating light trail, and used flash in second curtain sync to capture the audience.
